"The Bristal at Lake Grove was beautiful and brand new, and there was more to offer, but I couldn't afford anything more than a studio there. I really wanted to have a one-bedroom apartment, but they were more expensive. The staff seemed very friendly and very helpful. The apartment was very nice. It had a kitchen area, but no stove. You're not allowed to cook a meal, but they did have a sink, a microwave, and a refrigerator. The unit was bright and cheerful, and it was brand new, so there's nothing really wrong with it yet, and I did like it. If I could've afforded it, I probably would have chosen that. They had a more diversified menu, more choices on the menu, and more activities available. They had an outdoor swimming pool and an in-house beauty parlor. They had a lot of common areas there. They even had a family room that you could reserve for the day and have your family come and spend the day with you. It had a kitchen, you could cook in there with your family, and you could have your own little private dining room."

Dear Nichola,

A little thank you note for making my stay at The Bristal complete. Thank you for expediting the installation of the cabinet. Now my studio apartment is in full order. The largest thank you is for the late seating. What a different experience and a happy one.

Fondly,

Marie Coviello

"The staff is lovely. They are very helpful and very friendly. They know every one of the residents by name. They have a lot of help. Just recently when it snowed and the people slept over, they had accommodations for their staff. There are always people there to help, and that made me feel good. They serve three meals a day, and the three meals are like gourmet meals. They have like five choices all the time at lunch and dinner. They have salads, sandwiches, hamburgers, and hot dogs if you want to choose that. It is really lovely. My mother keeps saying that you couldn't have picked a better place. It took her a month and a half to adjust, and she wasn't that happy in the first month, but once she started making friends, it was OK."

Relative of a Resident at Woodcliff Lake

"After my Dad died, my mom was alone, severely depressed and a shut in. After I visited the Bristal in East Northport, I envisioned a new life for my mom. Well, the staff and residents brought my vision to a reality! Today, my mom is happy and fulfilled. She has pleasant company at her meals, and has plenty of activities to fill her days. Both the wonderful staff as well as the friendly residents made her feel welcome from the first day. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. My mom enjoys the meals, activities and trips. She is hardly ever in her room! My family is grateful to the Bristal for turning my mom's life around!"

The Bristal changed my mom's life!

"I am a resident at The Bristal at Lake Grove and would like to praise your staff for their overall concern and caring for the residents here.

Yesterday I had a choking incident during dinner and luckily Carlos Mineiro was there to save my life. I cannot thank him enough. Not only was he very helpful, but showed his concern by checking up on me later that evening. He also called my son to inform him of this incident. I thank him and wish him the best.

Sincerely,"

"My loved one is doing very well here, we're very pleased with how things are going at The Bristal! The entire experience has been very pleasant. The staff are wonderful, the facility is well kept and clean, and they do a great job looking after the people who live here. Really my only complaint is that they have assigned seating in the dining room, which seems a little silly for adults, but I suppose they have their reasons. Very nice place!"

The front-end part of the process showed very genuine concern, that they were really wanting to help us out and not just make a sale. They were always there to help out, answered all our questions, took us on multiple tours, and just showed endless patience. When some family members showed a little hesitancy, the entire staff chipped in to help out and they really went out of their way to make us all feel comfortable in our decision. It has been a very positive experience with The Bristal Assisted Living at Sayville and I would highly recommend them.

Genuine Care, Great Help

Just wanted to let you know that my dad appears happy at The Bristal. Since I live in Armonk it is easy for me to stop by after work, which I often do. I hear the residents express their likes and dislikes, though never a dislike from my dad. They seem to be happy with the nursing staff in general. Everybody loves Mike the maintenance man and the gentleman in charge of the laundry/linen service, though they don't know his name. My dad is particularly fond of Anthony, the bus driver, and they seem to have formed a special bond. He looks after my dad and keeps many of the residents involved in the house and out of house activities. He has been a real gem. He was very instrumental in helping with my dad's adjustment to the Bristal following my mom's death.

Anyway, I figure that you get more email complaints than emails of praise, so I thought I would drop you a quick line from a happy resident and his thankful family.

Dear Karen,

I just wanted to thank you both and the staff for assisting my mom, Millie, adjust so well. I visited her today and was so pleased to see that she is happy!! She has found her new home. I haven't seen her as comfortable and at peace like this in a long time! Thank you so much as it gives me peace of mind knowing she is so well cared for. Thank you!!

To Our Dear Chef and Servers / Helpers,

The thoughts of many would express how much we appreciated the beauty of the room and the cuisine, as well as the services for all the residents and the people who live and work here. We appreciate the food and the Mother's Day luncheon you gave us. If you wished to remember and honor the mothers, you have succeeded.
