Where Comforting Spaces and Familiar Faces Bring Peace to Forgetful Minds

Each of The Bristal Assisted Living communities has a private and secure neighborhood for specialized memory support called Reflections. Reflections is a highly customized and individually personalized memory care program that specializes in helping aging adults manage Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related cognitive disorders.

All programs in Reflections are designed to reinforce a sense of place and purpose for our residents. We include the family in our efforts so our residents feel supported by a circle of care that is comforting, dependable, and rooted in understanding.

Reflections residents participate daily in activities that are fun, individually paced, and delivered with sincere love and compassion. By creating an atmosphere of familiarity and consistency, we keep our residents invested and engaged in the world and the people around them.

Some examples of these programs include:

  • Art and music classes
  • Reading circles
  • Creative writing

Safety is a Top Priority

Safety and security are always top priorities at The Bristal. Our Reflections memory care areas are electronic keypad-protected, so our residents’ daily activities are managed within surroundings that are consistent and familiar to them.

All in all, Reflections provides a safe, secure, and giving environment, where the family is always encouraged to participate in their loved one’s care. It is a special place that our residents, quite literally, call home.

Specialized Programming for Memory Care Starts with Expert Staff

Every Reflections location is staffed with experienced senior care professionals trained in the latest approaches, therapies, and proven modalities for enhancing memory health and quality of life for these seniors and their families.

Our staff undergoes ongoing sensitivity training through The Bristal’s Hands-On & Hearts-In® program, which helps identify and address cognitive challenges our residents may be experiencing day-to-day, resulting in better care, happier days, and improved quality of life for those in Reflections.

In addition to continual expansion of our staff’s memory care knowledge and training, we also employ a Programming Specialist for Reflections at The Bristal, Kate Schneider. Kate develops, implements, and oversees new and innovative therapeutic goals-based recreational programs that emphasize resident independence, well-being, and social interaction. Kate also uses her extensive knowledge and Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) training to certify the staff at The Bristal on the latest trends in dementia care.
