To all of the Wonderful Staff at the Bristal,

Words cannot express how thankful we are to all of the kind, loving, people who gave such exceptional care to Helene. There was never a minute we had to worry that her needs were not met. The staff in Reflections treated Helene like a member of their own family. Every time we visited she was always immaculate and well groomed. If ever there was a concern about Helene, the staff would notify us immediately. As Helene’s condition deteriorated the staff worked with us so Helene could remain in her home. They all went above and beyond in their duties.

We would highly recommend the Bristal to anyone who is looking for residential care for their loved one. We wish you all the blessings of the Holiday season. May God bless each and every one of you.

Sincerely,

The Family of Helene Quinn

Dear Rich:

My mom, Marie Cappello, became a member of the Massapequa Bristal in October 2008. After visiting many facilities, I decided upon the Massapequa location. I felt it had everything that mom would like, inclusive of bingo, a movie theater and of course a wellness staff to assist her (and me) with her medication.

I anticipated that her transition to assisted living was not going to be easy. Mom was a very Independent lady. This coupled with the fact that she had just lived the last year with a live-in Aid. Mom only agreed to 'try' your facility because she knew it was closer to me and because she very much disliked having someone live with her.

Those first few weeks were much easier than expected. Judy Piazza and Judy Svendsen were more than welcoming. They addressed any apprehension that mom might have had. They also were there to help me with any outstanding concern or question that I had.

After the first 10 days at your facility, I hesitantly asked mom how it was going, even though I thought everything was Just great Mom only said that everything was 'fine'. She never admitted to me that she was much happier than before. That is until one day the following month when 1 had to take her to my dentist I was walking behind her when the dentist asked her how she liked The Bristal. She said and 1 quote, 'What's not to like. It is like living on a cruise ship!" Well, my family and I still laugh at how relieved we were to have learned that she was happy in this way.

Well weeks, months and two years passed. Judy Piazza moved to another one of your facilities. However, Judy Svendsen remained. She remained the one who continued to make mom smile. She was the one who welcomed me and my twins any time she saw us. She was there for me when mom's health began to decline and I had to make the decision to move room to a nursing home. Judy is an invaluable employee. You are lucky to have her, as we were!

Mom passed on January 2, 2011. We are all comforted knowing that her last two years of life was spent happily and independently, as she wanted. I am very happy with the choice I made for my mom.

Sincerely,

Sue Cappello

Dear Linda,

Seldom do we encounter people in our lives who are not only competent at their jobs, but also dedicated, super-efficient, and pleasant all the while!

We are so grateful to you for handling this challenging transition with such aplomb. Thank you for all your help.

Fondly,

The Katz/Lichtenstein/Goldwasser families

This note is being sent as a thank you to your entire organization and especially to the wellness staff at the Bristal lead by Vera Cursio.

My father in law, Ted Greene, is 95 years old and loves his “home” at the Bristal. He has lived there for over a year and fortunately was in good health and enjoying every moment. Several weeks ago, he slipped and fractured his ankle. After a short hospital stay, he had to go to a sub acute rehabilitation center to get back on his feet.

Your staff at the Bristal could not have been more encouraging and helpful in making sure that he was able to come back as quickly as possible. They helped my wife with all the administrative requirements and saw to it that things went as smoothly as possible. Vera was extremely helpful and I know without her assistance the entire process would have been much more difficult, if not impossible for us.

Ted especially appreciated the fact that he was visited by Sherri and given a small get well bear, all the while anticipating his return to his life with his friends and the staff at the Bristal.

Today is his first full day back and it a good feeling to know there are people there that care.

Best regards,

Ron Mayer

To the Reflections Staff,

Words cannot express my deep gratitude for all that you did to make my dear friend Dolores comfortable and content during the time she spent with you. It gave me great comfort to see how well she was cared for by a dedicated and professional staff. I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you.

Thank you,

Lynne Clausen

Dear Lara,

My mom, Marie Leone, recently stayed at the Bristal in East Meadow for a one month trial. It did not work for my mom for several reasons totally unrelated to the Bristal.

Your facility, the entire staff, the programs and food were outstanding. Patricia and Bridgette were particularly terrific in working with my family on the admission and then on attempting to get my mom comfortable. You should be very proud of your staff- they are extremely helpful, conscientious and professional.

If my mom changes her mind, as the family continues to believe that would be best for her, I have you guys at the top of my list. Actually, she wants to visit her “friends” there for lunch very soon. And 1 think 1 will take her there, as spring is finally here.

Thanks again and congratulations on putting such a fine team together.

Very truly yours,

Joseph M. Leone

Staff Appreciation Week gives us the opportunity to show our gratitude to each and everyone of you—and the special and unique ways you interact and assist mom with her every need.

Thank you for showing respect, tenderness and kindness in all that you do.

We love you for all you do and all you are.

With love and gratitude,

Dear Bristal Staff and Management (East Meadow)

Since June of 2001, our mom has had the privilege of enjoying her later years (8 to be exact!) at your wonderful “home”. It has become her home. A place where she has been able to enjoy all that you have to offer… most importantly the atmosphere of warmth and welcome, a safe environment and a fantastic staff. You have all given the gift of your experience, patience and care to mom (and to me) throughout her time with you. I will always have wonderful memories of my visits to the Bristal and it is with great sadness that mom’s health has dictated a change of care for her at this time. She continues to move along (assisted by her “walker”) at the great age of 92 ½ because of your “TLC”!! I promise to keep in touch.

Love and gratitude,

Beth Birnbaum and Family

P.S. Florence Salomon is thanking you as well XO

Dear “Reflections” Staff,

It’s not easy getting old and neither is it easy to successfully care for the elderly. My mother has had the privilege to have spent the last few years in “Reflections” with a wonderful staff. All of you have contributed to Mom’s happiness, health and beauty!

Her family has always felt comfortable and welcome when coming to visit. It is with great difficulty and a heavy heart that our relationship to your facility must change as mom’s health has caused us to move her to a “nursing” environment.

Please accept our sincere appreciation for all of you who work so hard every day and thru the night to give your residents the dignity that all deserve in their later years. Especially, we thank you for the patience needed to care for those who are unfortunate to have their memories erode and their personalities altered. You are all angels to us.

We will try to keep in touch. Good luck and good health to all of you.

Love, XO

Beth Bernibawn and the family of Florence Salomon

P.S. Mom would thank you so much as well.

Dear Lara:

I'm writing to thank you, Vera, Alison, and the entire staff at the Bristal for the wonderful care you provided my mother Florence during the nearly seven years that she lived there and especially during these last few months. Everyone who cared for my mother was very attentive to her needs, responsive, compassionate, and always willing to do whatever had to be done to provide for her comfort and well being. 1 was extremely pleased that she was able to remain in her apartment at the Bristal after she became a hospice patient, not only because the surroundings were familiar to her but also because she knew and liked the Bristal staff members who constantly dropped by to see how she was doing. And it was very nice for me to hear all of the wonderful things the staff members said about her. You and your staff were a great comfort not only to my mother but also to our entire family during this very difficult period.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Silberfeld
