Community is created in the moments when people come together, to share a meal, lend a hand, laugh over a friendly competition, or simply enjoy one another’s company. During Team Member Appreciation week at The Bristal communities, our Nassau County communities embraced those moments, creating opportunities for team members to connect, have fun, and recognize the important role that each person plays.
Across The Bristal at Bethpage, East Meadow, Garden City, Jericho, Lake Success, Massapequa, North Hills, North Woodmere, Lynbrook, and Westbury, Team Member Appreciation Week brought colleagues together through a week filled with games, special meals, wellness activities, entertainment, and plenty of surprises.
As Amy Silva-Magalhaes, Chief Operating Officer of The Bristal, shared during the week, “Your heart, commitment, resilience, and compassion are what fuel our success. I want each of you to know: we see you, we value you, and we appreciate you — not just this week, but every single day.”
A Week Built Around Coming Together
While each community put its own spin on Team Member Appreciation Week, many of the celebrations shared a common thread: creating opportunities for colleagues to step away from their daily routines and spend time together.
Friendly competition was everywhere. Team members took on scavenger hunts, trivia challenges, relay races, tug-of-war, cornhole, musical chairs, hula hook contests, water balloon challenges, and countless other games. Some communities embraced elaborate themes, transforming their week-long celebrations in rodeos, tropical getaways, space adventures, or trips around the world.
As we know, dining also has a unique way of bringing people together, and our team members are no exception. Breakfasts, BBQs, food trucks, taco bars, waffle stations, ice cream trucks, internationally themed buffets, shaved ice, smoothies, mocktails, and other special treats gave colleagues a chance to share a meal and enjoy a well-deserved break together.
Throughout the week, communities also made time for wellness and relaxation, with chair massages, yoga, and recharge stations designed to help team members feel refreshed and supported. In another fun gesture of appreciation, some communities offered car washes from leadership for team members’ vehicles, along with other thoughtful touches, designed to help team members feel valued.
Finding Fun in the Unexpected
Some of the week’s most memorable moments came from the creative ways communities brought their teams together.
At The Bristal at Bethpage, Team Member Appreciation Week was transformed into an out-of-this-world adventure. Team members took part in a Black (Corn)Hole challenge, asteroid roulette, musical chairs, a car wash, team BBQ, caricature drawings, and other space-themed activities.
At The Bristal at Massapequa, the team set sail for a week at sea, complete with steel drums and dancing, a tasting social, yoga, chair massages, a waffle truck, a taco bar, team BBQ, casino games, and one final toast to the “incredible crew.”
Meanwhile, The Bristal at North Woodmere embraced a Western-inspired Rodeo Roundup, complete with bingo, dart games, line dancing, a Tex-Mex buffet, carnival style activities, prizes, and a “Guess Who” challenge featuring childhood photos of team members. “It was a wonderful week of appreciation, friendly competition, teamwork, and unforgettable Western-style memories!”

More Than a Week of Appreciation
Although the activities look different from community to community, the spirit behind them was remarkably consistent. Team Member Appreciation Week created space for colleagues to pause, connect, laugh, and recognize the people they work alongside each day.
That sense of community extends beyond a single week. It can be found in the everyday moments of when team members support one another, share a laugh, lend a hand, and work together toward a common purpose.
Across Nassau County, Team Member Appreciation Week was a reminder that strong communities are built by people and when those people come together, they create something truly special.
