The Bristal at Lynbrook held a celebration on Wednesday, June 26 marking the wedding anniversaries of three happy couples residing there. The couples honored included Elaine and Herbert Sacks – married 65 years, Eda and Vincent DeMatteis – married 63 years, and Margaret and Philip Falzone – married 63 years. The afternoon began with blessings of love, thanks and gratitude offered by both Rabbi Susan Elkodsi of the Malverne Jewish Center, and Pastor Steve Brower of Faith & Victory Fellowship Church in Freeport. The ceremony was followed by a beautiful cocktail hour and formal dinner. Congratulations to these incredible couples on celebrating a combined 190 years of marriage, and thank you for allowing us to be a part of this memorable event!

Valentine’s Day in Lynbrook

Here in Lynbrook, we had so much fun celebrating Valentine’s Day. This year, we hosted our very first “Not So Newlywed Game”! A few of the couples living here at The Bristal at Lynbrook participated, answering questions about each other. All of the happy couples have been married for more than 60 years, so you can image how much they know about each other!  It was an afternoon filled with a lot of laughs and a whole lot of love. Paint Night in Lynbrook

Here in Lynbrook we had such a great time painting our winter blues away. Everyone followed step by step instructions on how to create a winter wonderland masterpiece, led by our Director of Recreation, Jan, while enjoying a beautiful cheese platter and refreshments. By the end of the night we had all created works of art, and were so impressed with what we had accomplished!

Holiday Party in Lynbrook

Here in Lynbrook, we enjoyed a beautiful holiday party! Live musical entertainment throughout the evening included a pianist at cocktail hour, saxophone player during dinner, and a band that we danced the night away to! There may not have been snow on the ground outside, but it was a winter wonderland inside – with beautiful decor and amazing hors d’oeuvres, followed by an extravagant holiday meal and desserts. 103rd Birthday in Lynbrook

Here in Lynbrook, we had a celebration for resident Kay’s 103rd birthday! The Mayor of Lynbrook, Alan Beach, and the board of trustees came to present Kay with a Citation as family and friends sat by her side. We then enjoyed live entertainment and cake for this very special occasion! Happy Birthday Kay!

Veterans Day in Lynbrook

Here in Lynbrook, we held a very special Veterans Day Ceremony.  Residents came to show their support for their fellow residents who have served. Each Veteran was presented with a Certificate of Honor for their service, by Executive Director, Wendy Gregg. The ceremony was followed by a beautiful violin performance. In addition, we received a touching gift from William L. Buck School – paintings of poppy flowers created by the students to show their respect for all those who have lost their lives at war. Thank you to all of our United States Veterans. As always, it is an honor to serve those who have served, here at The Bristal at Lynbrook.

Hello Sunshine Party in Lynbrook

We had a great time welcoming the summer sunshine at our Hello Sunshine Party this month! Residents, employees, families, and friends all dressed in bright colors and wore their best hat as they posed in the photo booth and danced to Make U Dance Entertainment. From the beautifully set up photo booth, to funny props and hats, it was hard to take a bad picture. We are so glad we were able to capture these amazing memories from this summer. We hope you are enjoying it as much as we are!

Puzzle Gallery in Lynbrook

This April here in Lynbrook, we hosted a Puzzle Gallery Opening in honor of Autism Awareness Month. Residents, families, and friends gathered for this colorful celebration featuring our favorite music, games, and raffles! Here in Lynbrook we love building puzzles and framing them as art work. We even made two sensory boards to donate to a local program. The Bristal Helping Hands, our group of resident volunteers, really enjoyed putting this together. Thank you to everyone who came and showed their support!

St. Patrick’s Day in Lynbrook

Here in Lynbrook, we had a great time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. A local Irish step dance school put on a beautiful show filled with not just music and dancing, but an abundance of Irish dance history! We also enjoyed entertainment by The Banjo Rascals followed by fresh Irish soda bread and Irish refreshments. Irish or not, we all felt lucky to be in good company and at yet another celebration.

Valentine’s Day in Lynbrook

Love was in the air this Valentine’s Day in Lynbrook. We enjoyed a morning filled with musical entertainment, followed by a special visit from local students who hand delivered Valentine’s Day cards to the residents. Then, heart shaped raviolis were served for lunch. After indulging in sweet treats for dessert, we spent the afternoon playing The Dating Game! The hilarious blind questions and answers had everyone laughing and playing along. It was such a fun day spent with good friends!

Paint and Sip Night in Lynbrook

Here in Lynbrook we enjoyed a beautiful Paint and Sip Night. Residents worked step by step on their own canvases to create some impressive masterpieces. Executive Director, Wendy, even joined in on the fun. We had such a great turn out and everyone really brought their creativity to the table! All of the residents were shocked at their own ability to create such amazing art work. At the end of the night everyone was able to take their canvases back to their apartments so they could show them off to friends and family!

Holiday Party in Lynbrook

We had an amazing time at our Holiday Party in Lynbrook this year. It was an evening filled with music, laughter and cheer. Residents came to this Polar Express holiday celebration dressed to impress. We are so proud of the team effort put into making this night possible for the residents every year, and this year was certainly no different. This beautiful evening was the perfect way to close out 2017 and we could not be more excited for what the new year has in store!

The Bristal “Lights the World in Teal” with the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America

On Wednesday, November 8th, The Bristal joined landmarks all across the world in lighting up teal to show support for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), and their Light the World in Teal campaign. This annual campaign is held during the month of November for Alzheimer’s awareness month. Residents and employees came together to show their support by not only lighting their buildings in teal, but by participating in different themed programs. Residents took part in activities including an interactive strings attached trivia game on brain health, and an Alzheimer’s awareness parade.  The Bristal was proud to be a part of this worldwide effort.

Halloween in Lynbrook

This year on Halloween in Lynbrook, residents welcomed a group of students from a local school to show off their costumes. The students brought hand painted pumpkins for the residents and came prepared with a performance! The residents were just as prepared with goodie bags that they had filled for the students ahead of time. The visit was followed by entertainment with Gerard Corbett, and of course a creepy crawler social hour! Everyone was dressed in their finest costumes, so it was nearly impossible to decide who had the best. Overall, it was an afternoon filled with smiles and laughter.
