Resident Outing to Yankee Stadium

We had such a great time at the Yankee game this week! Residents from a few of our communities spent the afternoon at Yankee Stadium and enjoyed the beautiful weather, an exciting game, and of course, no baseball game is complete without a hot dog or chicken fingers with a nice cold beer. What made it even better was the Yankees winning with a walk-off home run. Thank you to the New York Yankees for showing us a great time and giving us a shout out on the message board!

Kicking Off Summer in Garden City

Here in Garden City we have officially kicked off summer. From sitting out in the courtyard by the fire pit to golfing right in our own community, we are certainly making the most of this beautiful weather! We also had a sip and paint night for flag day, creating individual masterpiece American flag paintings. The gentlemen even got together to build model rockets for the 50th anniversary of the moon landing next month. It is just the first few days of summer and we have already done so much. We are so excited to see what the rest of this season has in store for us.

Margarita Mixer in Jericho

Residents from our Jericho, Westbury and Garden City communities got together this week at The Bristal at Jericho for a Margarita Mixer! We enjoyed perfect summer mocktails, music, dancing and light hors d’oeuvres. We had a great time mingling with residents from our neighboring communities!

Memorial Day in Garden City

Here in Garden City, our first annual Memorial Day BBQ was quite the success! We enjoyed all the BBQ classics like burgers, hot dogs, ribs, chicken and corn – of course followed by a delicious spread of desserts. Residents were invited to dine outside in the courtyard to enjoy the beautiful weather, and families joined us for a game of corn hole followed by live musical entertainment. Although Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, we never forget to wear our red white and blue to honor all of the men and women who have served our country.

April Fun in Garden City

This April in Garden City, our days have been jam-packed with fun. We are beginning to take advantage of the nicer weather by taking trips, so this month we visited the farm and saw some beautiful horses. While we were there we utilized our Eversound headphones, making it effortless to hear the horses’ instructors and the sounds of the surrounding nature. We also enjoyed the amenities right here in our own community. The men got competitive on the pool table while the ladies were creative for Easter as they explored a unique method of coloring eggs – wrapping them with silk fabric!

Mardi Gras in Garden City

Here in Garden City, we had a great time celebrating Mardi Gras. From extravagant masks, beads, and live music, to a homemade king cake and hurricane drinks, we felt like we were right on the streets of New Orleans. Chef Mick even setup a live chef’s station in the dining room and made the New Orleans original, Bananas Foster!

Valentine’s Day in Garden City

This Valentine’s Day in Garden City, we spent the day celebrating love, chocolate, and music. Residents enjoyed a beautiful chocolate fountain station with a variety of dippers including strawberries, marshmallows, pretzels, and pound cake, as a violinist strolled through the Bistro Grille playing all our favorite love songs. We even made our own sweet treats earlier in the day in our cake pop creations class. Happy Valentine’s Day! We hope you felt as much love this year as we felt here at The Bristal at Garden City.

Casino Day in Garden City

The Bristal at Garden City transformed into a casino yesterday! We featured games including blackjack, poker, roulette, craps, and bingo. Throughout the afternoon hors d’oeuvres and refreshments were served. The fun was not limited to just those blackjack and poker experts though – residents who were not familiar with the games were guided by different “table managers” from our recreation team. After keeping the games rollin’ for about two hours, we enjoyed a Las Vegas style buffet, complete with a carving station and decadent desserts!

Halloween in Garden City

We had a great time celebrating our first Halloween here in Garden City. Putting on silly masks and costumes provided the perfect opportunity for us to loosen up and get to know each other as we continue to settle into our new home. From pumpkin carving contests to costume contests, we loved getting competitive while also getting silly!

Garden City’s First BBQ

We are so happy to be open and enjoying the end of the summer with our first few residents! We are all getting to know each other as we settle into our new home here in Garden City. Last week we enjoyed the beautiful weather with a BBQ on the patio. It was a perfect afternoon spent with new friends. We also wasted no time breaking in the pool! With only a few weeks left of summer, we want to enjoy every last bit of the warm weather!
