Memorial Day in East Northport

Veterans and residents of The Bristal at East Northport welcomed retired US Army Colonel Alan Vitters as the keynote speaker at a Memorial Day Program held in honor of the brave men and women in all branches of military service. A graduate of West Point Military Academy and a local graduate of Northport High School, Colonel Vitters is a twenty plus year veteran of the Army and the recipient of numerous awards/citations, including the Bronze Star for Valor. He served as a Platoon Leader in Vietnam, a Commander of a Mechanized Infantry battalion in Germany and led the prestigious “Honor Guard” in Washington D.C., where he played a significant role in the state funerals of Truman, Johnson and J. Edgar Hoover.  We thank Colonel Vitters for his attendance and for his words. It meant so much to so many of us here in East Northport.
