Legacy Keepers Program in East Northport

The Legacy Keepers Program is aimed at preserving the memories, stories and experiences of our military veterans. We kicked off our Legacy Keepers Program here in East Northport with a group of local boy scouts. This session, we had 50 scouts in attendance from troops 174, 322, 333, and 410. The boys ranged in age from 12 to 19. Three of our resident veterans shared their experiences from World War II as the children listened and asked questions. The veterans are:
1. John Atton, 1st Lieutenant, US Army Field Artillary, 1943 – 1949
2. Irving Greenfield, Corporal, US Air Force, 1943 – 1946
3. Milton Gratt, Corporal, US Army Combat Engineer, 1942 – 1945
Passing along their information to a younger generation is a way to keep these stories and memories alive. We plan to continue the Legacy Keepers Program each quarter, featuring those who bravely fought for our country.
