The Bristal at East Meadow recently held an Iron Chef competition in the Country Kitchen. Residents gathered to watch the action – and taste test the results! It was Executive Chef Joe Albert vs. Executive Director Jennifer Eipel. Dining Room Manager Joe Cucinotta was Joe’s Sous Chef and Director of Recreation Elizabeth LeDonne was Jennifer’s Sous Chef. The secret ingredients were pumpkin and pasta. Team Joe made a lobster macaroni and cheese with a sweet and savory pumpkin sauce. Team Jennifer made a deconstructed pumpkin ravioli filled with sweet sausage with a pumpkin, brown butter and sage cream sauce topped with shredded truffled Pecorino and baby romaine. Residents and staff tasted each delicious dish and voted for their favorite. Team Joe and their lobster macaroni and cheese won this time, but since everyone had so much fun, East Meadow will likely see another Iron Chef competition in the near future!
