Each year, residents of The Bristal join millions of people in wearing the color red on the first Friday in February. According the the Go Red for Women website, they started the movement in 2003 after learning that Heart Disease is the #1 killer of women in the United States. National Wear Red Day was created to raise awareness about Heart Disease among women.
Here in North Hills, we had almost everyone donning their red attire this Go Red Day. Residents made heart pins, which they gave out to each person who donated to the American Heart Association. The participants plan to keep the fundraiser going all month long. On Go Red Day alone, they raised $200!
