Yesterday, resident Evelyn Kuck turned 100 here in East Northport! She was born in Willimantic, CT in 1917. She graduated from Willimantic State Teachers College (now Eastern Connecticut University) and went on to have two children – Nancy and Gary – as well as 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Evelyn taught 5th grade for more than 30 years, teaching in the Kings Park School District for most of her career. To this day, she can name almost all of her students in school photos from years back. One of her students from 1969 was there to celebrate this wonderful milestone, bringing pictures and reminiscing. Teaching was, and still is, her great love. She belongs to an organization called Kings Park Retired Teachers.
Legislator Steve Stern presented Evelyn with a Proclamation acknowledging her milestone in a special program attended by Evelyn, her daughter, Nancy and 50 of her friends from The Bristal. They raised a glass to toast her many accomplishments. Evelyn is so loved by all – and admired for her tenacity, strength and great attitude. We are so glad to have shared this 100th birthday celebration together.
