Dear Miss Bent,

I want to express my gratitued and appreciation to you and the staff at The Bristal for helping me celebrate my 93rd birthday with my family. Seven adults and two children representing four generations of my family enjoyed lunch together in the private dining room on Sunday, October 16th. the dining room staff was attentive and responsive to our needs. Each guest was able to order a different meal from the large number of selections on the menu — from hot dogs for my great-grandchildren to baked salmon for my daughter-in-law. And the children were … read more

Testimonial: I am a relative of a resident at North Hills

Posted by: The Bristal

When my cousin entered the Reflections unit over the summer, she had a rocky transition. Although she required some medication, it was more than balanced by extra care and structured days filled with people and activities. Betsy and her staff transformed her into her old, sociable, cheerful self in about 6 weeks. We were hoping for clean and safe, but we got more – we got happy. What we had not taken fully into account was the value of being in a world filled with people. Our cousin had become angry and bitter, as well as confused. She’s still confused, but she is happy. She is and was a people person. I would always be glad to chat with any one caring for a person with dementia and encourage them seriously to consider The Bristal at North Hills.

Harvey Granat Performs at The Bristal

Posted by: The Bristal

The very talented Harvey Granat has performed for us in two of our communities so far, with two others already on the calendar! In October and November, Harvey is bringing us the music – and the history – of George Gershwin. In January and February, we’ll be treated to another round of performances dedicated to Cole Porter. Harvey’s talents won him rave reviews. This is a sampling of what the residents of The Bristal had to say:

“The performance last night was absolutely superb. We felt like we were at a show in Manhattan.”
“The show last night was a real class … read more

Fundraising Efforts for Alzheimer’s Disease

Posted by: The Bristal

We’d like to extend thanks to all of The Bristal communities for their recent efforts to raise both funds and awareness for the fight against Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. Collectively, The Bristal raised over $10,000 and donated it to various organizations dedicated to the cause! While all of the communities actively participated, our Westbury Team wound up raising the most on their own – over $3,000! Here’s a photo of Colleen Jones, the Director of Reflections, and one of her team members, Al. Colleen led the efforts in Westbury and we’re grateful for their contributions. We’re so proud of all The … read more

Second Annual Art Show in North Hills

Posted by: The Bristal

We recently held our Second Annual Art Show here in North Hills. We enjoyed wine, cheese and live music as we got to admire the works of resident artists. We have people who paint, carve, sculpt, knit, crochet and make stained glass – just to name a few of the talents! Some of our residents even entered the Holiday Card Contest held by The Bristal – and our very own Myra Lerner won with her winter scene! Here are some photos from the event.
